Dean Kremer, the Baltimore Orioles #10 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, made his pro debut today, the Silver Anniversary of Cal Ripken, Jr surpassing Lou Gehrig‘s consecutive games played record.
Kremer needed 88 pitches to navigate 6.0 innings against the New York Yankees. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit while striking out 7 and walking 3.
Kremer’s toughest inning was the second. He faced 6 batters and allowed Clint Frazier (who walked to open the inning) to score on Erik Kratz‘s ground out.
Kremer retired the side in order in the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th innings.
If you’ll recall, Kremer was a part of the 2018 trade of Manny Machado to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Ironically, Kremer was not considered the centerpiece of the deal, Yusniel Diaz was.
