Triple-A: Syracuse Mets 16, Norfolk Tides 7 – Completion of Suspended Game

This game was suspended in the bottom of the seventh on Friday with the Mets ahead 7-6. As you can see by the score, things did not go well when the game resumed yesterday. Relief pitcher Yaramil Hiraldo had a horrible night. He allowed a solo home run in the eighth, then faced five batters in the ninth without retiring a single one. He was ultimately charged with seven runs as the Mets put up an eight-spot in the top of the ninth.

The Tides got one back in the bottom of the ninth on a Dylan Carlson homer, but it wasn’t close to enough.

The run came in the first inning on a ground out after Gibson struggled with his control, walking two and throwing a wild pitch. Four relief pitchers combined for the final 4.2 innings, with Blake Money getting the win with a scoreless seventh.

The Baysox tied the game in the second on a home run by Adam Retzbach and went ahead in the third when Alfredo Velásquez stole home. Velásquez had singled and moved to third on a single from Reed Trimble. Trimble had a good game with three hits including his seventh home run.
