September 14, 2021 by The Spun Leave a Comment

Three Milwaukee Brewers outfielders celebrating a win.

Ryan Braun, six-time All-Star and longtime outfielder of the Milwaukee Brewers, has retired from Major League Baseball.

Braun took to Twitter to announce the news. He thanked Brewers fans for the countless memories and support throughout his illustrious career.

“Today, more than 14 years after I first took the field as a Milwaukee Brewer, Braun said. “I’ve decided to retire. While it’s impossible to summarize my emotions, what I feel most is one, simple thing – gratitude. I just wanted to take a moment to say ‘thank you’.”

Take a look.

Ryan Braun hadn’t played for the Milwaukee Brewers since 2019. It was only a matter of time before he called it a career.

“I have weighed this decision for many months,” Braun continued. “While I still love this game very much, the time is right for me to retire from my playing days. It’s difficult to describe my emotions today, but it starts with overwhelming gratitude to those who have shared this experience with me while offering their unconditional support at every turn.”

Braun began his career with a bang. He was the 2007 Rookie of the Year in the National League. He then won the League MVP Award in 2011.

The former Milwaukee Brewer finishes his career with a career .296 batting average with 352 home runs and 1,963 hits.

We wish Braun all the best as he enters a new phase of his life. The Brewers will celebrate his career and retirement on Sunday, Sept. 26 at American Family Field.
