Jon Gruden and the Las Vegas Raiders will face off against Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens in the first Monday night game of the 2021 NFL season.
This primetime matchup already has plenty of hype, but Gruden made sure to boost that excitement with some comments on Saturday afternoon.
Lauding the Ravens’ quarterback as “worth the price of admission,” the Las Vegas head coach compared Jackson’s elusive nature to a classic comedy: “Dodgeball.”
“He’s like that ‘Dodgeball’ movie; he can dip and duck and, I don’t remember the other ‘D’s,’ but he can go crazy back there,” Grudne said, per Raiders insider Paul Gutierrez. “This guy is worth the price of admission. It will be fun to watch our guys chase him… I know our guys are ready to give their best effort.”

Jackson, the 2019 league MVP, is coming off his second straight season with more than 2,750 passing yards and 1,000+ rushing yards.
Heading into Monday night’s game, the Ravens will call on Jackson’s talents even more than usual — especially in the run game. With season-ending injuries to J.K. Dobbins, Justice Hill and Gus Edwards earlier this preseason, the Baltimore depth chart is severely lacking in the run game.
Last season, Gruden’s rush defense allowed 2,013 yards — meaning the Raiders defense could have some issues containing Jackson.
Tise primetime game will kickoff on Monday at 8:15 p.m. ET in Las Vegas.
