As the Baltimore Ravens start training camp for the 2021 season, quarterback Lamar Jackson’s contract situation remains a story line.
Jackson is eligible for an extension, but thus far none has materialized. Naturally, this has led to some whispers that the 2018 first-round pick could hold out at some point.
Not happening, Jackson says. He made that clear on a recent appearance on the Baltimore Ravens Podcast Network.
“I don’t holdout for nothing. I love football too much to hold out, man,” Jackson said on an episode of “The Lounge.”

In the same appearance, Jackson also said that while he has had some contract talks with Ravens GM Eric DeCosta, he’s not focused on that at the moment.
“I’m not worried about that right now. I’ve still got two more years left on my first [contract],” Jackson said, via Ravens.com. “I’m worried about getting my Super Bowl here and bringing it back home so we can celebrate that and focus on that.
“I’m focused on winning. If you’re not winning, they’re not talking about no contract with you. I’m trying to win as much as I can and get us a Super Bowl. That’s what I’m focused on.”
The Ravens have indicated in the past that an extension for Jackson is a matter of when, not if. In the meantime, the 2019 NFL MVP will look to take the next step in his development as he tries to lead the team to a Super Bowl.
