Lamar Jackson identified as one of the 'most trolled' players in NFL over 12-month span

July 13, 2021 by Ravens Wire Leave a Comment

The Baltimore Ravens are no strangers to hate and negativity. It can be argued that the team actually thrives on it. However, some of Baltimore’s players see swarms of negativity directed at them in massive quantities, something that can be defined as pure hate or sometimes “trolling”.

The Action Network put together a report of the “most trolled” players in the NFL on Instagram from May 2020 to May 2021. They were able to calculate the total number of posts on Instagram for each player and then using the social tool “Linkfluence”, identified how many of those posts were negative.

While Jackson didn’t make an appearance on the original top-ten list of “most trolled” players, he was on the extended list of 20 players, coming in at No. 15 based on percentage of posts that were negative.

According to The Action Network, in total there were 363,621 posts on Instagram about Jackson over the 12-month span of May 2020 to May 2021, with roughly 10.80% being negative. His percentage of negative posts ranked higher than players such as Tyreek Hill (10.50%), Patrick Mahomes (10.40%), and Cam Newton (9.19%), but lower than others like Jalen Ramsey (12.50%) and Derrick Henry (11.70%).

Jackson has been dealing with hate for a long time. Countless unfair narratives and stereotypes have been placed upon him for multiple reasons, but despite everything he’s had to deal with, he’s ascended into one of the best players in the NFL. He’s stayed true to himself and believed in himself from the very start, and has many others who believe in him as well. Even though a lot of negativity is thrown his way, he’s one of the nicest and most polite players in the entire league. That speaks to Jackson’s character, and no matter who doesn’t like him, he’s shown that he’ll continue to trust who he is and stay true to himself.
