Odafe Oweh says Justin Houston is 'like Yoda'

August 18, 2021 by Ravens Wire

The Baltimore Ravens drafted outside linebacker Odafe Oweh in the first round of the 2021 draft with the hope that he could realize his full potential and become a star at the NFL level. While he’s only a few months into his professional career, he’s shown plenty of that potential while also being willing to learn as he works hard to get better.

After Monday’s training camp practice, Oweh was asked a question about his new teammate in fellow outside linebacker Justin Houston. Oweh lit up when talking about the veteran, and even compared him to a popular “Star Wars” character.

“He’s Yoda, man. He’s like Yoda. He just knows everything, and I try to ask him questions about different sets, how to approach that, how to attack that, and he’ll have the answer right away. I really appreciate that, because like I said, I’m new to the game, so I’m trying to pick up something different every single time. I try to work with him after practice – hands, just learning. Learning stuff and picking every little thing. With film too, how to take care of your body – just that vet mentality, being a pro and everything. So, he’s really helped me with everything.”

Bringing in a player like Houston will go a long way for young guys like Oweh. The former Indianapolis Colt has a massive amount of NFL experience as a 10-year veteran, and the lessons he can teach using the things that he’s learned are extremely valuable. Oweh clearly wants to learn as much as he can from Houston, and it’s that mentality that will allow the rookie to unlock so many things inside of him, both as a football player and as a person.
