Players around the NFL show support for Lamar Jackson amidst unfair criticism

July 17, 2021 by Ravens Wire Leave a Comment

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson hosted his annual “Fun-Day With LJ” event, which saw hundreds of kids from South Florida come out to play football, eat food, and have fun with the star quarterback.  However, Jackson has faced some heavy criticism after being seen playing wide receiver and cornerback on asphalt, most notably from Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk and former Baltimore tight end Shannon Sharpe, who is now with FOX Sports.

Despite being unfairly criticized for having fun in his community, many NFL players have stood behind Jackson and have shown him support, including some of his current and former Ravens teammates.

Other players around the NFL also showed their support for Jackson, sending him positive messages through comments on Instagram.

Lamar Jackson was criticized for running routes against kids on a basketball court at a free camp he organized while he negotiates his contract.

The former MVP says he’s doing it bigger and better next year.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling took to Twitter to let Sharpe know why Jackson “risked it”.

Because he wants to go back and be the guy that he never saw as a kid. Give hope to a community. Brighten a kids day. Could change a kids life. Bigger than chasing a check when you are a genuine person that cares about the the youth. https://t.co/UxAK2IYoUP

The support from players around the league sheds a positive light on the efforts that Jackson has made in the community, which is how it should have always been. The fourth-year player will continue to make an impact in the places he cares about, which speaks to his character and his personality. Despite the unfair criticism that Jackson is facing for the things he did out of the kindness of his heart, there are plenty of people who support him in what he did and will continue to do for years to come.
