According to The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec, the Ravens have placed left tackle Ronnie Stanley, tight end Nick Boyle, cornerback Iman Marshall, and linebacker Otaro Alaka on the active physically unable to perform list.

Per today’s transaction notice, the Ravens placed TE Nick Boyle (knee), LT Ronnie Stanley (ankle), ILB Otaro Alaka (knee) and CB Iman Marshall (knee) on the active PUP list. They can come off at any time when they’re ready to practice.

As Zrebiec points out, players placed on the active PUP list can come off the list and join practices as soon as they are able to. Baltimore will be regaining two key cogs to their offense with the awaited returns of Stanley and Boyle.

Following an All-Pro season in 2019, Stanley suffered a season-ending ankle injury in 2020 in the Week 8 game against the Steelers. Losing the best player on the offensive line at the most important position had season-long ramifications for the unit, including multiple players playing different positions.

Boyle’s season was ended when he tore his PCL, MCL, and Meniscus in Week 10 against the Patriots. Losing possibly the league’s best blocking tight end was another big blow for the Ravens on offense. Baltimore’s offense still found its footing toward the end of the season, but the loss of these two was felt in the playoff loss to the Bills in the divisional round. The Ravens were unable to protect quarterback Lamar Jackson or get the rushing attack going, resulting in a stagnant output by the offense.

As for Marshall, he has yet to have significant playing time in the regular season after being drafted by Baltimore with the No. 127 overall pick in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Marshall missed all of his second season with a torn ACL and was only active for three games as a rookie, making one tackle.

Alaka made the team as an undrafted free agent in 2019 but was placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury before the start of the season. In his second season, Alaka suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 5 and missed the remainder of the year. Alaka has appeared in five games throughout two seasons.
