The Baltimore Ravens have seen rookie wide receiver Rashod Bateman make an immediate impact ever since returning from a core muscle injury that cost him the first five games of the regular season. The wideout has hauled in seven receptions for 109 yards in his first two NFL games, averaging 15.6 yards per catch and having all seven of his catches go for first downs.
When Bateman was asked about the man throwing him the football in Lamar Jackson, he called playing alongside the quarterback “fun” and “an honor”, saying that he and Jackson put in the work and it shows up on Sundays.
“It’s definitely been fun playing with Lamar [Jackson]. Growing up, I watched him do his thing at Louisville, [and] it’s just an honor to play alongside him and be here with him. But we go out, we practice, and it just shows the work that we put in. We go out, we practice, we put the work in, and it shows up on Sundays.”
Even though it’s been just two short games where Jackson and Bateman have shared the field, the pair has shown some promising chemistry. The quarterback is often looking in the direction of the rookie wide receiver, as Bateman has seen 12 targets from Jackson.
Many are excited about just how good the duo of Jackson and Bateman can become. The early returns have been extremely positive, and it will be fun to watch them grow together as the weeks and months pass by.
