The Baltimore Ravens suffered a major blow to their offense during Tuesday’s practice. Rookie wideout Rashod Bateman suffered a lower-body injury that forced him to leave practice early.
According to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic, Bateman suffered the injury when he pulled up while running a slant route against Marcus Peters.
“Story of today’s practice was an injury to first-round WR Rashod Bateman,” Zrebiec said. “Bateman pulled up while running a slant against Peters and then fell immediately to ground. Walked to building with pronounced limp. DeCosta followed him in building.”
Zrebiec added that Bateman grabbed the inside of his upper leg when the injury occurred. What makes this so concerning is that it’s a non-contact injury for the Ravens’ first-round pick.

Baltimore’s coaching staff has raved about Bateman throughout this offseason, so hopefully this isn’t a long-term injury for him.
In May, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh called Bateman a “quick learner” who has a nice a demeanor.
“Impressions are very positive. He’s a no-nonsense guy, has a nice demeanor about him. He’s a quick learner. He’s everything we thought he would be in terms of the athleticism, the skillset,” Harbaugh said. “That’s usually the case, but not always the case. What you see is not always what you get. You don’t know until you get them out there, in really the first rookie minicamp. And I would say that he is as advertised from a talent standpoint.”
Hopefully, the Ravens will receive a positive update on Bateman’s injury in the near future.
