The 2021 Coaches’ Poll top 25 was released earlier this month. The preseason AP Poll top 25 will be released on Monday.
It’s “overrated” and “underrated” season in the college football world.
Which college football teams are most “overrated” heading into the 2021 regular season? 247Sports analyst Brad Crawford has two teams on his mind.
According to the 247Sports analyst, Texas (No. 19) and USC (No. 14) are the two most “overrated” teams in college football right now.
On USC: “Placing USC a few spots back, maybe in the No. 16 or 17 hole feels like a more accurate projection as one of the co-leaders alongside Oregon within what should be a top-heavy conference this fall. Trojans head coach Clay Helton was asked about this team’s expectations in July and did not mince words.”
On Texas: “Perhaps the Longhorns are over-inflated a bit heading into the season with a first-year starting quarterback and a brand-new coaching staff under Steve Sarkisian. The latest win total from Vegas oddsmakers stands at 7.5, which means Texas is just as likely to finish 7-5 this fall as it is 8-4 depending on how many games you think the Longhorns can win.”
We’ll see where the Trojans and the Longhorns land in the preseason AP Poll on Monday. College football writer Brett McMurphy has already released his ballot.
