Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones had a special plan in place to honor his father during Monday night’s game against the Detroit Lions. He decided to wear a necklace that contained Alvin Jones Sr.’s ashes in a football-shaped medallion.
Jones’ father was certainly with him in spirit on Monday night, as he had four touchdowns in a blowout win for the Packers.
Unfortunately, after the game, Jones revealed that he lost the necklace at some point in the second quarter. The Pro Bowl running back believes he lost the medallion on a touchdown reception, but he didn’t seem too upset about it.
“If there was any place to lose it, that’s where my dad would’ve wanted me to lose it,” Jones told the media, via ESPN. “So I know he’s smiling.”
Fortunately for Jones, the Packers conducted a thorough search of Lambeau Field late on Monday night to find the necklace.
On Tuesday morning, Jones told 97.3 The Game in Milwaukee that Green Bay’s search party was able to successfully retrieve the necklace containing his father’s ashes.

This, of course, is outstanding news for Jones. Now, he doesn’t have to feel any guilt about potentially losing a necklace that holds a lot of sentimental value.
Jones’ father passed away in April at the age of 56 due to COVID-19 complications. As you can see, Jones is doing his best to honor his father on a weekly basis.
