The Arizona Cardinals will begin training camp later this week as they continue to gear up for the start of the 2021 NFL season. With one roster vacancy still left to fill, the organization has decided to make a late July addition.
According to Ian Rapoport, the Cardinals plan to sign free agent cornerback Daryl Worley. The former third-round pick will give Arizona some much-needed depth in the secondary headed into training camp.
“The Cardinals are expected to sign FA CB Daryl Worley, source said. The former Raiders (and others) CB gives some depth before camp,” Rapoport wrote on Twitter.
Worley, 26, last played for the Raiders in 2020 after signing with the team in December, making two appearances and one start for Las Vegas. He made eight tackles and tallied two pass defenses but wasn’t re-signed heading into 2021.
Now he’s been give another opportunity in the NFL with the Cardinals.

Worley came into the league in 2016, when the Carolina Panthers drafted him in the third-round. He played two seasons with the franchise before he was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2018.
Since then, Worley has had stints on the Raiders (twice), the Dallas Cowboys and the Buffalo Bills. In his career, he’s played in 66 games and racked up 257 tackles, 37 passes defensed and five interceptions.
The Cardinals already addressed their gaps in the secondary in a major way by signing free agent cornerback Malcolm Butler this offseason. The two-time Super Bowl champ and former Pro Bowler replaced longtime franchise cornerstone Patrick Peterson, who left for the Minnesota Vikings this summer.
Worley may not factor into the Cardinals long-term prospects in the secondary but he’ll give head coach Kliff Kingsbury another option to look at during camp. If he performs well, he may find himself on the final roster come September.
