After being traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers from the Brooklyn Nets in the middle of last season, All-Star center Jarrett Allen has probably been looking forward to the chance to face his former team with the playoffs on the line. Unfortunately, that opportunity for Allen won’t be coming this year.
According to reports, Allen has been ruled out of Tuesday’s play-in tournament game against the Nets. Allen has been dealing with a fractured finger he suffered in March.
The former Net was the team’s first-round pick in the 2017 NBA Draft and became a mainstay of the team for the next 4.5 years. But when the Nets acquired James Harden in 2021, Allen was sent to Cleveland as part of a four-way deal.
Allen responded to the move by playing some of the best basketball of his career to end the 2020-21 season. The following year, he set new career milestones and made his first All-Star game.
This past year he averaged 16.1 points and 10.8 rebounds per game in 56 starts for the Cavs. His field goal percentage was a career-high 67.7-percent.

It’s unclear if Jarrett Allen will be available should the Cavs beat the Nets and advance to the playoffs.
The Cavs clearly missed Allen during his injury layoff. They went just 7-11 after he left early against the Raptors on March 6.
