Kelly announced on Saturday that the Wisconsin graduate transfer will be the starter for the first year of the post-Ian Book era. Coan did not play in 2020 after enjoying a breakout 2019 with the Badgers.
In 2019, Coan completed 69-percent of his passes for 2,727 yards and 18 touchdowns with just five picks over 14 games. The Badgers reached the Big Ten Championship Game, losing to Ohio State then lost to Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl.
Notre Dame fans are excited to see what Coan can do in Brian Kelly’s system. But Wisconsin fans are also excited to see Coan again when the two teams play at Soldier Field on September 25.

Jack Coan will have big shoes to fill in his first and only year at the helm in South Bend. The Fighting Irish went 10-0 in the regular season, securing a spot in the ACC Championship Game.
Despite losing the title game to Clemson, Notre Dame still made the College Football Playoff. But they were quickly beaten by eventual national champion Alabama.
Expectations are always high at Notre Dame, but with an experienced hand (arm) like Coan, they may be higher now.
Will Jack Coan live up to expectations and bring the Fighting Irish back to the College Football Playoff?
