Texas’ football program is making a big change at the quarterback position.
Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian announced on Monday morning that Casey Thompson will get the start at quarterback this week. Texas is coming off a bad loss to Arkansas.
Many fans have been calling for Thompson to start this season. Now, they’re finally getting their wish, although it might be a week too late.

Texas fans are encouraged by the news, though many believe this move should’ve happened earlier in the season.
Casey Thompson is the new starting quarterback at Texas.
Big call by Sark. It’s quite possible that Thompson won’t turn back and he’ll never let it go. Fascinating call.

Texas is off to a 1-1 start in the Steve Sarkisian era. The Longhorns opened the season with a big win over Louisiana. However, Sarkisian’s program fell back to earth in Week 2, getting beaten handily by the Razorbacks.
Week 3 will pit Texas against Rice. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. E.T. on Saturday.
