The 2021 college football season is almost here, but there won’t be any games before ESPN’s College GameDay makes its return to the airwaves. And for their first show of the season, they have a legendary guest.
College GameDay will be live for the MEAC/SWAC showdown between Alcorn State and North Carolina Central. Joining the main cast as a guest will be one of the SWAC’s most well-known coaches: Deion Sanders.
The Jackson State head coach gets his second season with the Tigers underway on September 5. But he spoke to ESPN and said that he’s going to the event at Center Parc Stadium in Atlanta to “scout” the opposition.
Sanders’ Tigers didn’t get to play against Alcorn State last year due to the pandemic. They were credited with a 2-0 forfeit win that ensured Sanders finished the 2020 season with a 4-3 winning record.

There will be a handful of games for College GameDay to cover in Week 0. The big one will be a Big Ten showdown between Nebraska and Illinois.
That game will pit embattled Huskers head coach Scott Frost against the Illini and new head coach Bret Bielema, who returned to college football after a three-year hiatus to take over for Lovie Smith.
Other games on the card for Week 0 include Hawai’i vs. UCLA, UConn vs. Fresno State, UTEP vs. New Mexico State and Southern Utah vs. San Jose State.
When Deion Sanders is in the house, fireworks are sure to follow.
We can’t wait.
