After three solid years with the San Antonio Spurs, DeMar DeRozan is set to his free agency this year, and may not have to wait long before he gets a bunch of lucrative offers. But he was recently asked what his thoughts on potentially joining the Los Angeles Lakers are, and his answer was very interesting.
Appearing on Club Shay Shay with Shannon Sharpe, DeRozan was asked if the idea of suiting up for the purple and gold near his hometown in Southern California appealed to him. DeRozan said that he would welcome a chance to play with LeBron James and Anthony Davis – if the Lakers reached out to him.
“You can’t ask no kid if they’d want to play (close to) home and they’ll say ‘No,’” DeRozan said. “At some point you definitely want to have that opportunity. And especially, if they want you, why not?”
Sharpe then asked if DeRozan might get frustrated by not getting as many shots as he got in San Antonio. But DeRozan dismissed that possibility, pointing out that the Brooklyn Nets with Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden managed to strike a balance – so he could too if teamed with LeBron and AD,

There’s little doubt that DeMar DeRozan would be an appealing option for the Lakers. He’s coming off three straight seasons averaging over 20 points a game.
But in 12 NBA seasons, DeMar DeRozan has not been able to win an NBA title. That’s probably something he factors in to wherever he goes next.
Given the Lakers are just one year removed from an NBA title and are likely one quality player from winning another, DeRozan could be a perfect fit for them.
