Former Packers TE Has Blunt Comment About Aaron Rodgers

September 15, 2021 by The Spun Leave a Comment

Aaron Rodgers against the Saints on Sunday.

Aaron Rodgers didn’t exactly play his best football in the Green Bay Packers’ Week 1 loss to the New Orleans Saints. His struggles in that game have led one of his former tight ends to make a surprisingly blunt statement.

Appearing on ESPN’s KJM, former Packers tight end Jermichael Finley said he doesn’t see the “hunger” in Rodgers to compete anymore. He said that it might be time for Rodgers to step aside and let Jordan Love take the reins.

“I just don’t see the work ethic in Aaron Rodgers that I have in previous years,” Finley said at the end. “And actually, you can see it right through his helmet. The eyes and the face tell everything about the personality. And I don’t see that NFL hunger and that hunger to go win another championship.”

Needless to say, Finley’s comments are going over well with fans of Rodgers, or Green Bay Packers fans. Many complained that Finley has been making comments like these about Rodgers for the better part of a decade.

Here is just some of the clapback at Finley:

Convinced the only person who holds grudges as long as Aaron Rodgers does is Jermichael Finley. He’s been doing this for a full decade now. pic.twitter.com/Y7QwM6phZM

There’s not a soul on earth that would know who Jermichael Finley is without Aaron Rodgers. Just let it go dude https://t.co/mlUaxSGsK0

LMFAO oh wow here’s a fresh take. ESPN goes and digs out Jermichael Finley for a bashing take of Aaron Rodgers. Greg Jennings coming up next I’m sure. These are the only 2 guys for a decade who have spewed this.

Regardless of Finley’s motives for criticizing Aaron Rodgers, there’s little doubt that his performance in Week 1 was concerning. He completed just over 50-percent of his passes for a league-low 133 yards and threw two picks in a 38-3 loss to the Saints.

Granted, Rodgers has had worse games before and it hasn’t ultimately meant anything. So many Finley is just making a mountain out of a molehill.

It’s the first time the Packers have lost their season opener since 2014 – they went on to win the NFC North with a 12-4 record.

We’ll see how Rodgers and the Packers bounce back in Week 2 against the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field.
