When James Harrison joined the New England Patriots late in the 2017 season, he did so after doing battle with Tom Brady for many years.
For more than a decade, Harrison starred for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Naturally, when he came to New England, he didn’t exactly have the warmest feelings about the legendary quarterback, given how many times they faced off in big moments.
But a funny thing happened to Harrison after he spent some time as Brady’s teammate. He actually came to realize that he liked the guy.
Harrison explained how his thoughts on Brady evolved during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” this week.
“I wanted to hate him when I got there, so I’m like, ‘He’s feeding me some BS. He’s just being a good guy in front of me,’” Harrison said, via NESN. “So I’m sitting back watching him for like a week or two. And finally I have to tell him like, ‘Dude, I wanted to come here and hate you.’ … But I sat back and watched. That’s why everybody likes him, man. He’s a good dude. From the practice squad guy that comes in the first day, he’s like, ‘Hey, how you doing, I’m Tom Brady.’ Like they don’t know who the hell he is! That’s just him, that’s his personality, he’s just a good dude.”
“Obviously the 1st person I met was @TomBrady & he introduced himself as if I didn’t know who the hell he was”@jharrison9292 said he wanted to hate Tom but he was too nice 😂 & he had NO problems with his time in New England #PatMcAfeeShowLIVE pic.twitter.com/RSr81GdMRM

Upon hearing Harrison’s comments, Brady responded with his typical sense of humor that we’ve gotten to see more of since he left New England for Tampa Bay.
I mean…why would anyone ever not be nice to @jharrison9292?! 🤣 https://t.co/VUHPjqFEOx
