Following an offseason of rampant trade rumors for Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers, things started to settle down again as he embarked on his 17th season with the Packers organization. But now heading into Week 6, those discussions have started to ramp up yet again.
After the Packers’ Week 4 win over the Steelers, Rodgers gushed about his respect for longtime Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin and addressed a viral in-game moment between the two of them.

“I’m a big Mike Tomlin fan. I have been for a long time,” Rodgers said. “I like the way that he speaks about his team. I like the way he goes about his business. I like his confidence. I’ve heard nothing but good things from guys that have played there. I like Mike Tomlin.”
With a clear mutual respect between this QB/coach combo, the Steelers’ need for a longterm fix at the quarterback position and Rodgers’ admiration for how things are run in Pittsburgh, many NFL insiders, including Fox Sports analyst Jay Glazer, feel that the reigning league MVP could be a Steeler in 2022.

With all signs pointing towards longtime Steelers QB1 Ben Roethlisberger calling it quits after this season, the Pittsburgh organization have no reliable backup option moving forward. According to Glazer, Tomlin would prefer to land a veteran QB next year instead of going with the hit-or-miss rookie draft route.
While a Rodgers-to-Pittsburgh move may seem entirely possibly with all these factors in mind, the 37-year-old quarterback shut down these rumors during last week’s appearance with The Pat McAfee Show.
“I’m just speaking the truth,” Rodgers said. “Ask me a question about Mike Tomlin, I’m going to tell you how I feel about Mike Tomlin. If you want to take that and run with it and say I’m angling for some sort of next team or something, I’m not. I’m just answering a question about my respect for Mike and what he’s accomplished in the league.”
For now, Rodgers and the Packers will look to claim their fifth straight victory with a win over the division-rival Bears on Sunday afternoon.
