CJ Mosley has barely touched the field since signing a five-year, $85 million deal with the Jets in 2019. A groin injury in his New York debut (Week 1 of 2019) kept Mosley out for most of his first season as a Jet. The Alabama alum then opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19. So Mosley has appeared in two games for the team he signed with over two years ago.
With the long hiatus behind him, Mosley feels ready to quarterback New York’s defense. The Jets are coming off a 2-14 season in which they finished 26th in points allowed and 24th in total yards allowed. But Mosley enters 2021 with the same ambition that he arrived with in 2019.
“I’d go back to one of my quotes when I first got here: People are sleeping on the Jets, and if people come with that same mentality, they’re going to get their ass blown out,” Mosley said Monday.
“That’s 100 percent, whether we’re at MetLife or anywhere else. If they think there’s anything old about this Jets team, it’s not going to end well for them. That’s the mindset we’re going to bring to work every day. We’ve just got to make sure that we hold each other accountable every day when we go to practice, make sure we stay as healthy as possible, and have the same mindset, the same goal: To win every game.”

Mosley has contributed to winning since his college days. He played a key role on two national champion Alabama squads (2011, 2012) and made four Pro Bowls with the Ravens, who drafted Mosley in 2014. Mosley’s winning pedigree will only help the struggling Jets’ culture.
The Jets are scheduled to open the regular season on Sept. 12 against the Panthers.
Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. E.T.
