Luka Doncic scored a massive contract extension with the Mavericks on Monday, and JJ Redick wants a bit of the cash. No, we’re not kidding.
Doncic signed a five-year, $207 million extension with the Mavs on Monday, bringing an end to the drama between the two sides in the process. Redick, Doncic’s teammate last season, has one request of the superstar: pay him back.
Redick and Doncic apparently played cards a few times when Redick was with the Mavericks. And yes, there was money involved. Redick jokingly requested on Monday that Doncic pays him the $1,700 he won from cards some time ago.
“Still owes me $1700 from cards. Please @CashApp me @luka7doncic,” Redick said on Twitter.
Take a look. This is pretty hilarious.

Luckily Luka Doncic has the money, so we don’t anticipate him having a hard time paying JJ Redick.
Redick played in just 13 games with the Mavericks last season where he scored just 4.4 points in 11.3 minutes per game. He’s now a free agent.
There’s no doubt age (37) and a recent injury are concerns, but Redick is still capable of being a high-impact player when healthy. Several contenders will likely get in the mix at some point this summer to try and persuade Redick to sign.
Prior to getting traded to the Mavericks during the 2020-21 regular season, he reportedly had two landing spots in mind: the Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks. Perhaps one will land the veteran sharpshooter ahead of the 2021-22 season.
