Bengals head coach Zac Taylor announced the team’s plan for Burrow on Wednesday. This Sunday’s exhibition will mark the first time that Burrow plays in an NFL game since suffering a torn ACL last November.
Several fans were surprised when they heard the Bengals’ plan for Burrow this weekend, but it turns out that was always going to be the case. Well, at least that’s what Burrow claims.
“This was the plan the whole time. We just didn’t want to tell you guys,” Burrow said. “I’m excited to get out there and have game-type feel. I think it’s important going into the last preseason game to be as close as you can to having a game-like feel. I’m going to be in the huddle during Game One, so I need to be out there for the first play of this game.”

It’s important that Burrow feels comfortable in this type of setting before Week 1 of the regular season.
As for Cincinnati’s game plan on Sunday, it sounds like the coaching staff is going to make sure it keeps Burrow out of harm’s way.
“I can be as smart as I can possibly be with the play calls and what will be options for him,” Taylor told reporters.
At the very least, Burrow should be able to knock off some rust this weekend.
