The Lakers have the oldest team in the NBA right now. It’s only fitting if they’re considering adding another veteran guard to the roster.
According to NBA insider Chris Haynes, the Lakers worked out three veteran guards this week, including Isaiah Thomas, Darren Collison and Mike James. The Lakers appear to be particularly interested in Thomas. Per Haynes, Thomas had a private workout with LeBron James and the Lakers’ new addition, Russell Westbrook.
Thomas has a history with both James and the Lakers. He was teammates with James when both were with the Cleveland Cavaliers several years ago. The two infamously shared a bizarre and complicated relationship, which ultimately ended in the Cavaliers trading Thomas to Los Angeles, where he played in just 17 games back in 2018.
Could a Thomas-James-Lakers reunion be in the works? From the sound of it, Los Angeles has interest.

The Lakers need depth ahead of the 2021-22 season. They currently have 12 players on contract, but can carry up to 15. Adding a veteran point guard is a must for a Lakers team built on veteran leadership.
Isaiah Thomas, 32, saw his NBA career fall apart because of a hip injury which has continued to linger over the years. The latest reports suggest the former NBA star is finally 100 percent and ready to give professional ball one last go-around. Are the Lakers willing to take a chance?
Thomas built a career on his shoot-first, pass-second approach. He’ll have to make a change if he wants to play for a Lakers team in need of another distributor who’s capable of providing some scoring off the bench only when called upon.
