LaMelo Ball lived up to the hype as a rookie, averaging 15.7 points and 6.1 assists per game during his first season with the Charlotte Hornets. He was so impressive in his rookie year that many fans believe he’s already better than his older brother, Lonzo.
During a recent collaboration with GQ, LaMelo shared his pick for which member of the Ball family is the best on the hardwood.
Unsurprisingly, LaMelo chose himself over Lonzo. His explanation for why he’s better than Lonzo was pretty hilarious.
“I’m going to go with LaMelo Ball is better,” Ball said. “It’s just a fact. That’s it. All right. Play style different? We’ve got some similarities, but then we also got a lot of differences. I think the difference is, I’m better. That’s just my opinion.”
Obviously, LaMelo was just playing around when answering questions during this GQ segment. However, he’s technically not wrong about him being better than Lonzo.
Even though Lonzo is a really good two-way player, LaMelo seems to be a special talent at this stage in his career. The rest of the league believes he’s special too, which is why he was named the Rookie of the Year this past season.
With a whole offseason in front of him to develop his skills, LaMelo could potentially reach All-Star status next season.
Who do you think is better: LaMelo or Lonzo?
