Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has never stood down from the chance to take subtle shots at a member of the NFL media. Earlier this week, he decided to go after ESPN insider Adam Schefter a little more openly.
In an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers explained why decided to take a pass on doing the Lambeau Leap after his first home touchdown of the year last Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. When prodded by Pat McAfee, who wondered aloud if the 2020 MVP was worried about looking like Schefter, Rodgers saw an opportunity to take a shot at the NFL reporter.
“I never said that,” the Packers quarterback replied with a smile. “I didn’t mention me looking like an unathletic, weak chin, no ass [guy].”
The comment turned some heads and many thought that there was a hint of seriousness in Rodgers’ playful tone. Schefter must’ve caught wind of the remarks from the Packers quarterback because he responded Sunday.
“That’s a first for me. I’ve been called an ass plenty of times in my life, but I’ve never had somebody comment about mine, except for my wife who’s been very complimentary of it,” Schefter said on NFL Countdown Sunday morning.

Schefter handled the barb from Rodgers well as his response brought out quite a bit of laughter from the rest of the NFL Countdown crew.
This isn’t the first time that the two have gone back and forth at one another. Earlier this offseason, after Schefter released the news that Rodgers was upset at his situation in Green Bay, the Packers quarterback made a subtle remark about the insider’s report.
The pokes between Schefter and Rodgers seem to be just jokes, but there’s at least a little bit of player-media rivalry developing between them. We likely haven’t heard the last of the drama and will hopefully get to see the two meet up sometime in the near future.
