“Do I want the fans behind me and this team? Yes. Do I want them behind Justin? Absolutely, I do,” Dalton said. “But that’s not my focus. I can’t focus on all that right now. Like I’ve said before, Justin is going to have his time and Justin is going to have a great career. But right now, it’s my time, so my focus is on being the best player I can be for this team.”
Dalton’s comments stirred up widespread reaction, with Bryant chiming in on Twitter tonight. The free agent wideout seems convinced that Fields should be QB1 from day one.
“I like you Andy but I don’t know…1st round and already showing a promising career…Chicago would be every bit of crazy if Fields go out here and dominate the rest of the preseason and not start Week 1,” Bryant said. “My eyes are laser focused on the Bears QB dispute.”

After letting Mitchell Trubisky walk, the Bears signed Dalton to a free agent contract this offseason. They then traded up to draft Fields in the first round in April.
Head coach Matt Nagy continues to insist that the 33-year-old Dalton will be starting in the season opener against the Los Angeles Rams, but we’ll see if Fields is able to force his hand over the next couple of weeks.
