Sung Kang entered the third round of the 3M Open with a promising score and a real chance to move up the leaderboard. Unfortunately, he lost any chance of winning this weekend’s event because of his performance on the 18th hole.
It might be hard to believe, but Kang needed 12 shots to finish the par-5 18th. That’s because his ball went in the water a whopping four times.
Kang’s nightmare finish in the third round of the 3M Open dropped his score all the way to even par.
Before the 18th hole, Kang was at seven-under par and firmly in the mix to contend. Now, he’s 12 shots back of Cameron Tringale for the top spot on the leaderboard.
Here’s the official scorecard for Kang:

Golf fans couldn’t believe what they saw on the 18th hole, as one spectator tweeted “Sung Kang sunk on 18.”
Jonathan Coachman of CBS Sports also chimed in on the conversation, saying “Sung Kang just scored a 12 on the par 5 18th. Anyone that had him in a head to head matchup with David Lingmerth is very happy.”
