There was a major fail at the start of the men’s final in the triathlon on Sunday afternoon.
The final of the men’s triathlon is underway from the Summer Games in Tokyo, Japan following an embarrassing screwup at the start.
There was a boat in the way of the athletes as the starting gun was fired. Several athletes made their way into the water, but had to be called back due to the boat mistake.
Here’s what happened:

That can’t happen at the Olympics.
Sports fans across the world have taken to Twitter to react.
“Feeling for all of the competitors today though what an absolute shambles with that media boat…adrenaline will be running sky high right now,” one fan wrote.
“How do you allow the start of a triathlon? Wish a boat blocking half the start deck,” another fan added.
“Why was that boat in the way when they said “on your marks” and then made the shot?! No wonder half of them took off,” another fan added.
Hopefully the rest of the event goes smoothly, because that was a very rough start.
