In a surprising move, the Los Angeles Clippers traded Patrick Beverley, Rajon Rondo and Daniel Oturu to the Memphis Grizzlies for Eric Bledsoe. Naturally, Beverley had something to say about the move.
Taking to Twitter last night, Beverley had just five words in reaction to the trade. “Grit and Grind. Let’s GO,” Beverley wrote, adding a pair of basketball emojis.
The 33-year-old point guard joins the Grizzlies after spending the last four seasons with the Clippers. While in LA, he averaged 8.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game over 177 appearances on the court. He earned All-Defensive Second-Team honors in 2020.
Prior to his four years with the Clippers, Beverley played five seasons with the Houston Rockets. During that span he averaged 9.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists, and was a two-time All-Defensive Team selection.

In 2019, the Clippers rewarded Patrick Beverley for his hard work with a three-year contract. He proceeded to have another strong year as the Clippers made the playoffs and won their first series in five years. The following year, he helped them reach their first-ever Western Conference Finals.
The Grizzlies now have Beverley for one more year before making a decision on his future.
Given that the Grizzlies just made the playoffs, the bar should be set pretty high this coming year.
Will the Memphis Grizzlies make a deeper playoff run this coming season? What kind of impact will Patrick Beverley have after being traded?
