The No. 1 wide receiver in the 2022 class is open for recruitment once again.
On Tuesday, highly-touted recruit Luther Burden announced his decision to decommit from the Oklahoma Sooners program.
“First, I would like to thank the entire Oklahoma coaching staff for giving me an opportunity to be a part of the Sooner family,” he wrote in a statement. “But after a long conversation with my family, I have decided to decommit from the University of Oklahoma.”

In addition to his No. 1 receiver ranking, Burden is also the No. 5 overall recruit in the nation, per 247Sports. Using his 6-foot-2, 194 lbs frame, the five-star wideout has dominated at the high school level in East St. Louis.
Burden committed to Lincoln Riley’s Oklahoma program back in October of 2020. Before that, he’d received offers from nearly every top program in the country — including Alabama, Auburn, Ohio State, Florida, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, etc.
According to 247Sports’ recruiting tracker, Missouri (near his hometown of St. Louis) and Georgia are the receiver’s new top choices following his decommitment.
There’s no current timeframe on Burden’s new commitment announcement.
