Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady played together on the New England Patriots for eight seasons during which time the franchise rattled off three Super Bowl wins in four years. As a result, the two old teammates were all smiles when they linked up for joint practice this week in Tampa.
Vrabel and Brady met for some time on the field during practice Wednesday and a photographer caught the two of them chatting with one of Brady’s sons, Jack. The Titans head coach later decided to use the photo to make a joke involving his former teammate.
On Wednesday evening, Vrabel posted the picture of himself, Brady and Jack all talking on the field. He coupled the image with a hilarious caption that poked fun at the former Patriots quarterback.
“Jack Brady talking with his favorite former Patriot. Also pictured, Tom Brady,” Vrabel wrote on Twitter Wednesday.

Brady also had a little bit of fun at Vrabel’s expense after practice on Wednesday. When speaking with the media, the 44-year-old Buccaneers quarterback joked that the former linebacker has “mellowed” as a coach and is not as “chattery” as he was as a teammate back in New England.
Clearly, the two are still close enough to joke around with one another even if their football careers have led them in different directions.
After 14 years as a linebacker in the NFL, Vrabel, 46, decided to hang up his helmet for good in 2010 and opt for the sidelines as a coach. He took over the Titans top job in 2018 and has led the franchise to two straight postseasons, including an AFC Championship appearance during the 2019 season.
One of the teams Tennessee beat to get there? The Patriots with Brady in his last season under center in New England.
Meanwhile, Brady is still tearing up the rest of the league on the field as the quarterback of the Buccaneers. Fresh off of his seventh Super Bowl title last February, the 44-year-old has his sights set on an eight Lombardi Trophy this season.
It’s unlikely that Brady will have to go through Vrabel and the Titans in his pursuit of another championship, but crazier things have happened. If that is the case, the two old friends will have to turn foe for at least one night.
