Pau Gasol hasn’t played in the NBA since 2019, but American basketball fans were able to watch the six-time All-Star play on Sunday night.
The two-time NBA champion big man is part of Spain’s preliminary team for the Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Spain is taking on the United States in an exhibition contest on Sunday night.
Gasol, 41, had some vintage moves against the United States during Sunday evening’s exhibition contest.

Gasol, who played in the NBA from 2001-2019, is arguably one of the most-underrated big men of his generation. He helped the Lakers win two championships and was at times the most impactful player on the floor for a Los Angeles team that also featured Kobe Bryant.
The Spanish big man was the Rookie of the Year in 2002 and a four-time All-NBA player.
NBA fans have taken to social media to pay tribute to Gasol during the exhibition against the United States men’s team.
Honestly, Pau Gasol’s Bulls tenure is too easily forgotten.
Dude was an All-Star both season. Averaged 17.5ppg, 3.4 assists, 11.4 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game. Both Bulls seasons have been nothing too special, but he was always fun to watch. pic.twitter.com/b06dOOyow0

Spain’s preliminary Olympics team also features Ricky Rubio and Pau’s brother, Marc Gasol.
Team USA, meanwhile, is hoping to get on a roll after a rough start to the exhibition schedule. The Americans have already lost twice heading into the Summer Games.
