The Minnesota Vikings drafted Pittsburgh’s Jaylen Twyman on May 1st. On June 21st, Twyman was shot four times while visiting his aunt in Washington D.C. Twyman suffered gunshot wounds to the arm, leg, buttocks and shoulder, according to his agent Drew Rosenhaus.
Fortunately, Twyman has made a full recovery from what Rosenhaus called “superficial exit wounds.” The 6’2”, 301-pound Twyman, who opted out of the 2020 college season due to COVID, is ready to go for the start of Minnesota’s training camp.

Stephanie Twyman, Jaylen’s mother, described the shooting to TwinCities.com in June.
“They were shooting at everyone, anyone that was outside,” she said. “It was not a targeted shooting. They were shooting at everyone. It just so happens he was leaving his aunt’s house and he happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
The Vikings’ sixth round pick wore number 97 at Pitt in honor of Panthers legend Aaron Donald. Twyman did Donald proud, logging 10.5 sacks and 12 tackles for loss in 2019. Twyman’s monster pro day––when he benched 225 pounds 40 times––was the cherry on top of a productive college career.
Twyman joins a Minnesota defense that finished 29th in points allowed and 27th in yards allowed last year. The Vikings’ regular season kicks off at home September 12th versus Cincinnati.
