The Miami Dolphins will be without second-year starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa for this Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Tagovailoa was diagnosed with fractured ribs, an injury he suffered in last week’s loss to the Buffalo Bills. He’s in “a lot of pain” according to head coach Brian Flores.
As a result, Jacoby Brissett will get the start at Allegiant Stadium. The veteran backup threw for 169 yards and an interception in relief of Tagovailoa in Week 2.
Tua’s injury is a brutal turn of events for a Miami offense that has struggled through two weeks and a onetime No. 5 overall draft pick who has been bitten by injuries dating back to his college days.
It is fair to wonder what the rest of Tua’s season–and possibly the rest of his time in Miami–will look like.
Not great for an offense that’s scored a league low 17 thru two games, and the injury concerns following Tua from Bama to Miami https://t.co/P5x2INNSb4

Fractured ribs for Tua Tagovailoa. And it could likely be several games he misses with this injury. https://t.co/kEio8D50jx

So if (and a big if) Watson is allowed to play next year it seems like he will be on Miami. https://t.co/4q5GfW7ym1

In the meantime, Brissett will look to lead the Dolphins to their second win of the season against a 2-0 Raider team.
Kickoff is set for 4:05 p.m. ET on Sunday.
