During the first half of Oregon’s season opener against Fresno State, star defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux suffered a sprained ankle. He’s been listed as day-to-day since suffering the injury, leaving the door open for him to potentially suit up against Ohio State.
Unfortunately, the latest update on Thibodeaux doesn’t bode well for his status this Saturday afternoon.
Oregon insider Matt Prehm of 247Sports just reported that Thibodeaux was on the sidelines in street clothes while most of the team was warming up. That’s not a great sign for his availability today.
Thibodeaux is arguably the best defensive player in the country. If he can’t suit up for Oregon this afternoon, Mario Cristobal’s defense will have to come up with creative ways to get pressure on Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud.

Prior to spraining his ankle in the season opener, Thibodeaux had a monstrous sack on Fresno State quarterback Jake Haener. It was the type of play that showed why he’s the projected No. 1 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
While the college football world would love to see Thibodeaux active this Saturday, the Ducks would be wise to take a very cautious approach to this situation. At the end of the day, the coaching staff should wait until Thibodeaux is back to 100 percent.
Kickoff for this epic showdown between Ohio State and Oregon is at 12 p.m. ET on FOX.
