Paul Finebaum Shares Honest Admission On Ohio State’s Chances

Paul Finebaum makes comments about roy Williams.

Many Ohio State fans are hitting the panic button following Saturday’s 35-28 loss to Oregon. By falling at home to the Ducks, the Buckeyes backed themselves into a corner.

In order to make the College Football Playoff for the third-straight year, Ohio State is going to have to win out the rest of the way. Fortunately for the Buckeyes, that’s not an impossibility.

On Sunday’s “McElroy and Cubelic” show, ESPN’s Paul Finebaum provided some perspective for the OSU faithful. Yes, the team has legitimate issues, particularly on defense, but a path of the playoff is still there.

“I think there’s a lot of reason for concern at Ohio State when you look at that defense,” Finebaum said. “There’s already conversation about the (defensive) coordinator position up there. But they still have a path, and I like their path better than Clemson’s, only because they’ll see some ranked teams along the way. …They could see a highly-regarded Iowa team. They may see another ranked team or two.”

On Monday, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day addressed the setback to the Ducks, saying that the team had “circled” the game for a long time coming in. That might not be what fans want to hear, considering how OSU went out and played.

“This loss doesn’t sit well at all,” Day said. “We wanted to win this game, and we had it circled for a long time, so we’re very disappointed.”

Ohio State gets a chance to bounce back starting this weekend against Tulsa. The path going forward seems clear: win out and hope it’s enough.
