Three NFL Drafts ago, the Raiders stunned the football world by taking former Clemson star Clelin Ferrell with the No. 4 overall pick. The pick has not panned out in the way Las Vegas was hoping for.
The Raiders will begin the 2021 season tonight against the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football. Ferrell won’t even be in pads. The Raiders announced on Monday evening that Ferrell is inactive and reports indicate he is a “healthy scratch.”
The Raiders were expecting big things out of Ferrell when they took him with the No. 4 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He played in 25 games and had 65 tackles, 11 for loss and 6.5 sacks during his first two years in the NFL.
Tonight, he won’t see the field for the Raiders who are hoping to start the 2021 season on the right note.

Assuming Ferrell is actually a healthy scratch and doesn’t have any underlying health or discipline issue, it is a reflection on how poorly the Raiders have drafted these past few years. They need to do better.
Fans aren’t happy with the team’s draft decisions, including the Clelin Ferrell pick.
“The Raiders had 5 first round picks from 2019 to 2020,” wrote Marcus Mosher of The Raiders Wire, via Twitter. “Clelin Ferrell is a healthy scratch. Damon Arnette is the No. 4 cornerback. Johnathan Abram was PFF’s worst-graded safety last year. One was a running back and another was Henry Ruggs.”
Las Vegas takes on the Ravens tonight at 8:15 p.m. ET on ESPN.
