Earlier today, it was reported that Max Kellerman would be taken off First Take and assigned an “increased role” on ESPN Radio.
According to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, that expanded role will include working with Keyshawn Johnson in the morning. Johnson, a former star NFL wide receiver, has been paired with ESPN basketball analyst Jay Williams on their national radio program while their onetime co-host Zubin Mehenti has been away due to health complications.
“Originally, ESPN Radio wanted to pair Kellerman with Keyshawn Johnson on its morning show when it shook up its entire lineup last spring,” Marchand wrote. “But Kellerman ended up doing a two-hour afternoon radio program heard nationally while Johnson teamed with Jay Williams and Zubin Mehenti.”
Marchand added he is unsure if Williams will remain as the third host alongside Johnson and Kellerman when the changes are implemented.

Kellerman has co-hosted First Take with Stephen A. Smith since taking over for Skip Bayless five years ago. However, ESPN is moving in a different direction.
The company will reportedly take Kellerman off the debate-based show and allow Smith to go head-to-head with a rotating group of experts and guests.
