Report: ‘Many Feel’ Scott Frost Will Be Fired By Christmas

September 13, 2021 by The Spun Leave a Comment

Scott Frost wears a Nebraska football hat coaching against Michigan State.

After a disappointing loss to Big Ten rival Illinois to start the season, Huskers head coach Scott Frost got Nebraska to two straight wins to give them a 2-1 record. But with tougher games upcoming, there’s an increasing belief that Frost will be fired by the end of the season.

According to Ross Dellenger of Sports Illustrated, a combination of factors could lead to his ousting at Nebraska. Per the report, Frost’s limited wins combined with an NCAA investigation into his improper use of analysts, has led “many” to believe he’ll be fired by Christmas.

“As for Frost, his homecoming at Nebraska has gone awry,” Dellenger wrote. “He won 12 games in his first three seasons, is now under NCAA investigation and, many feel, is likely to be fired by Christmas.”

There’s no denying that Frost has struggled to rebuild Nebraska into a Big Ten powerhouse, let alone a national title contender. While the Huskers have repeatedly expressed their commitment to Frost, their patience isn’t infinite.

Before a top-10 showdown with Bama, the story of the coaching search that remade Florida football.

An AD’s internal battle. Two trips to see Chip. Frost’s broken promise. Gundy overtures. And a plea about church to Jimmy Sexton.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have gone 14-21 under Scott Frost since hiring him in 2018. They’re 9-18 in Big Ten games and won just three of their eight games in 2020.

Frost make a good case if he can lead Nebraska to a win over any of their big opponents. Beating Oklahoma, Michigan, Ohio State, Wisconsin or Iowa would all go a long way. But they’ll be heavy underdogs in all of those games most likely.

Nebraska play Oklahoma this weekend in a rematch of the 1971 “Game of the Century.”

Will Scott Frost be able to save his job through Christmas?
