As expected, the NBA Play-In Tournament will return for the 2021-22 season, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Originally, the Play-In was implemented on a one-year basis prior to the 2020-21 season. However, over the last few months, it began to look likely that the event would be back next year.
Earlier today, the NBA Board of Governors officially voted to continue the Play-In Tournament next season. Like this year, the 7th-through-10th-seeded teams in each conference will compete for the final two playoff spots during the play-in round.
The Play-In will run from April 12-15, 2022 with the 2022 NBA Playoffs beginning on April 16.
