The NFL and its relationship with vaccinations took an interesting new twist on Saturday.
According to Chad Speck – the president of the Allegiant Athletic Agency – an NFL team reached out to a free agent client of his earlier today. When the team discovered the player was unvaccinated, it apparently cut off communication and indicated it was uninterested.
“A #NFL team called today interested in working out & signing a free agent client,” Speck said on Twitter. “When they found out he wasn’t vaccinated they were no longer interested. The rules the #NFL implemented in reality mandates the vaccine for back end roster type players.”
This is yet another incentive for players, whether they be free agents or not, to get vaccinated. Though the NFL won’t mandate vaccinations, vaccinated players clearly have advantages over those who are unvaccinated.

This isn’t the only development regarding the NFL and vaccinations this week. In fact, there have been many.
Minnesota Vikings assistant coach Rick Dennison is no longer with the organization after refusing vaccination. It could be just the start of what’s to come within the NFL ahead of the 2021 season.
Arizona Cardinals star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins voiced his displeasure with the NFL and its stance on vaccinations in a Twitter rant earlier this week. He even appeared to ponder retiring because of the treatment of unvaccinated players.
The NFL has made its stance clear. If players get vaccinated, they’re going to avoid most protocols related to COVID-19. Those who are unvaccinated will continue to be required to follow strict protocols, and will be fined if they violate them.
