Ron Rivera speaks with the media after Wednesday morning’s practice in Ashburn
The team posted a link to the press conference today, but there seems to be a technical problem with the video. If I can find a new link later, I will post it. For now, it’s just the tweets from the beat reporters.

Concussion protocol for Sammis. Temarrick Hemingway also in there. Sounds like Logan Thomas, John Bates, Ricky Seals Jones and Caleb Wilson will be the TEs this Friday https://t.co/8smCssq5mh

Cole Holcomb
Ron Rivera is addressing the media. He sees more consistent play out of Cole Holcomb. He has a better feel for running plays and he’s raised his game to another level

Antonio Gibson
Ron Rivera said that he believes that Antonio Gibson is progressing towards being a complete back. Being able to run whatever you want
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 18, 2021
Rivera said Antonio Gibson is progressing the right way. A lot of people bring up McCaffrey when talking about Gibson and how the Panthers RB can handle any responsibility given to him, and Rivera would love it if they can get to that with Gibson.

WJ3 update
“You get talented players, because they do what you want to do. …We’re going to use his ability.” Ron Rivera on William Jackson III on the progress he’s made playing in the team’s scheme. The idea is they want to be able to throw different looks at teams
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 18, 2021
Ron Rivera said that the team played zone too much last season, and it was something that Jack Del Rio said. So they went out to get players to help achieve that game
— Rhiannon Walker (@InstantRHIplay) August 18, 2021
Ron feels like the 2020 defense got a bit zone heavy in certain situations and that’s a big reason why he targeted William Jackson III. WJ3, as he grows more comfortable, should help Jack Del Rio be more flexible with his calls, which is something JDR has voiced an interest in

Who let the dogs out?
Rivera said his dogs are “out of control” because they see all this grass and “lose their minds.” Love it. https://t.co/TrhtnFGmZJ
