With most FBS conferences setting up pretty serious consequences for teams that suffer COVID-19 outbreaks without being vaccinated, teams are working quickly to ensure that all of their players get their shots. So what does Ohio State head coach Ryan Day have to say on the Buckeyes’ vaccination status?
Speaking to the media on Friday, Day announced that a majority of Buckeyes players have been vaccinated. While he wouldn’t go into exact numbers, it’s a good sign heading into the final month of preparation for the season.
Day also revealed that star wide receiver Chris Olave is not yet with the team. The reason for his absence is that Olave is going to get his second shot this coming weekend.
Ohio State have been making all kinds of efforts to ensure that everyone on campus is vaccinated ahead of the upcoming school year. Earlier this month the school offered up to $50,000 in prizes for students, faculty and staff who get vaccinated.

Last year the COVID-19 pandemic threatened to end the Ohio State football season before it began. The Big Ten Conference initially canceled the 2020 season before backtracking and setting up an impromptu season.
Ohio State would go 5-0 in the regular season to secure yet another Big Ten Championship berth. They then beat Northwestern to win the title before beating postseason nemesis Clemson in the Sugar Bowl.
Sadly, their season would end just shy of perfect as they lost to Alabama in the National Championship Game.
Ohio State will stop at nothing to ensure that in a position to battle for the title this year though.
