Earlier this afternoon, the football world learned that the New Orleans Saints were working out a former first-round wide receiver.
According to ESPN’s Field Yates, former first-round pick Kevin White worked out for the Saints earlier today. Well, it didn’t take long for the former San Francisco 49ers wideout to make an impression.
Not long after his reported workout, White has a new job. According to a report from NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Saints are singing White to a new deal.
“The Saints are signing veteran WR Kevin White, source said,” Rapoport reported on Twitter this afternoon. “The former first-rounder worked out in a group today.”

In his final year at West Virginia, White had 109 catches for 1,447 yards and 10 touchdowns. That led the Chicago Bears to select White with the seventh overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft.
He failed to live up to the hype, unfortunately, racking up just 25 receptions for 285 yards during his time with the Bears. He eventually joined the Arizona Cardinals, but failed to make an impact there as well.
After a brief stint with the San Francisco 49ers, White soon found himself looking for a new opportunity. The Saints, who are dealing with several injuries to the wide receiver room, happily obliged.
