In his first season as Jackson State head coach, Deion Sanders led the Tigers to a relatively disappointing 4-3 record through a non-traditional COVID-19 spring campaign.
But, according to Coach Prime’s son Shedeur Sanders, the program is in for a new start this fall.
Oozing the confidence that his father showed throughout his 14-year Hall-of-Fame NFL career, the freshman quarterback shared his outlook heading into the 2021 season.
When asked if a successful day of practice against the Jackson State defense equates to a win on game day, Shedeur gave a simple answer.
“It equates to a blowout, you’ve got understand … y’all don’t really understand,” Sanders said at SWAC media day press conference. “It’s players that have different caliber of talent and they all came to JSU. So it’s like, when you compare us to a regular SWAC team, a different SWAC team the best, you got to understand. We didn’t come here because we had to, we came here because we chose to.
“It’s a difference.”

Coming out of Trinity Christian School in Cedar Hill, Texas, Shedeur is the No. 24 quarterback in the 2021 class. His four-star, 0.9125 247Sports Composite ranking solidifies him as the top-rated recruit in the SWAC.
With the No. 55 ranked recruiting class in the country, Jackson State should be in for some marked improvements this coming season.
