Sports Media World Reacts To Cris Collinsworth’s Performance

September 13, 2021 by The Spun Leave a Comment

NBC announcer Cris Collinsworth on Sunday night.

NBC’s Sunday Night Football is back. The Los Angeles Rams are hosting the Chicago Bears in the first Sunday night primetime game of the season.

With the return of Sunday Night Football comes the influx of tweets about the network’s lead analyst, Cris Collinsworth.

Collinsworth is somewhat of a polarizing announcer (most of the top ones are). Many fans love him, while other fans take to Twitter to chastise him.

Lions fans appear to be annoyed with him on Sunday night. They believe he took too long to realize how good Stafford is.

Stafford has been great on Sunday night and Collinsworth has made sure to note it. The now-former Lions quarterback didn’t get too many primetime games in Detroit, though, so it’s tough to blame Collinsworth for not drooling over him until now.

Bears fans, meanwhile, seem to agree with the NBC analyst.

The former NFL wide receiver had a blunt message for the Bears tonight.

“They need something explosive,” Collinsworth said.

Yeah, Cris. We’ve been saying the same thing for 3+ years…

Others, meanwhile, are simply happy to see Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth back on the air on Sunday nights.

Al Michaels is 76 years old.

And still on his ‘A’ game when calling an NFL game.

This could be Michaels’ final year calling NFL games. He’s expected to be replaced by Mike Tirico on Sunday nights. However, it’s possible he could land with another network (or streaming service).

The Rams, meanwhile, lead the Bears 27-14 late in the second half.
