The Minnesota Vikings are reportedly set to add a veteran wide receiver to the roster before training camp gets underway next week.
According to NFL insider Josina Anderson, the Vikings are planning to sign free agent wideout Dede Westbrook to a one-year deal tomorrow. Westbrook spent the first four seasons of his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
A fourth-round draft pick out of Oklahoma in 2017, Westbrook posted 339 receiving yards and a touchdown in seven games as a rookie. He was productive in 2018 and 2019, hauling in 129 receptions for 1,367 yards and eight touchdowns in 30 games.
A torn ACL ended Westbrook’s 2020 season after two games.

The Vikings’ receiving corps will once again be led by Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen in 2021. However, behind those two standouts, there is considerable uncertainty.
Olabisi Johnson and Chad Beebe are the likely second-stringers, at least to start camp. Westbrook will be in the mix with 2021 fifth-round pick Ihmir Smith-Marsette and others.
Minnesota opens its 2021 training camp on Wednesday, July 28.
